5 Next-Gen Games Coming Up

“The Order: 1886,” TBD 2014 –:

Developed by Irvine, Calif.-based game developer Ready at Dawn, “The Order: 1886” will hit shelves for the PlayStation 4 in fall 2014. The action-adventure title is set in an alternate history where an ancient order of knights are responsible for keeping the world safe from half-human, half-animal monsters. Set in the 19th century, the story focuses on the war between King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table engaging in battle with the monsters. A supernatural substance called black water is discovered, allowing the knights to heal themselves and extend their lives.

“Final Fantasy XV,” TBD 2014 –:

The latest endeavor from Square Enix doesn’t have a specific release date yet, but it will contain a darker and more realistic setting than previous “Final Fantasy” titles. “FF XV” has no direct relation to other titles in the series and will feature completely different characters and a different world. The game will feature a party-based battle system similar to the one seen in the “Kingdom Hearts” series and will allow for a party of three members.

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture (PS4)-:

Weaving a hearty does of mystery, narrative and exploration into a first-person adventure package, The Chinese Room’s next game is too intriguing not to make it onto this list.
Following in the footsteps of their last project (2012’s excellent Dear Esther), this game’s story ‘begins with the end of the world’. Set during an apocalypse, you take control of a lone scientist who must uncover what on earth went wrong.
A post on the PlayStation Blog reveals that Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture will experiment with non-linear environments which react to your decisions, and the developer’s track-record guarantees that each will be littered with fantastically written secrets.

“Tom Clancy’s The Division,” TBD 2014 –: The upcoming online multiplayer third-person shooter will be available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Created by Ubisoft Massive, the setting is a post-apocalyptic New York City, where players explore the destroyed metropolis while facing attacks from warring groups. “The Division” will feature Massive Entertainment’s Snowdrop engine, which the company calls “a dynamic, interconnected and united system. The artists, the designer and the animators have the power to achieve their ideas…by accessing the game directly within the engine.” Snowdrop will run in real time, allowing each experience – a window shattering, a car exploding – to be different every time.

Fable Legends (Xbox One)

Describing the latest Fable as a mere dungeon-crawler takes the sting from its tail; this is an adventure where the villain (controlled by another player) takes an equally starring role, throwing down enemies and cunning traps for four players to battle their way through.
Promising the same blend of quirky humour and action that the series has become well known for, it’s an eye-catching smorgasbord of the new and the whimsical old.
We’ve seen very little of it thus far, but if Legends lives up to its potential then this is perhaps one of the most enticing reasons to pick up an Xbox One.
